Significant changes concerning an important Budapest flight from 15 March

15 March is a national day in Hungary, the anniversary of the 1848-1849 Hungarian civic revolution and freedom fight against the Habsburg Empire. But it will also mark the change of a popular Budapest flight commuting between the Hungarian capital and a Chinese metropolis having more than 30 million residents with its suburbs.

New departure and arrival times, new planes

According to airportal.hu, Air China’s regular flights from Chongqing in Central China will land in Budapest on Wednesdays in the morning instead of Friday evening. The schedule change will be in effect from 15 March. Furthermore, the airlines will use Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners on the route, replacing the Airbus A330-200s the passengers got used to in the past.

Flight fequency will remain unchanged, based on the Chinese airline. The change will be in effect in the summer schedule, from 15 March until the end of October. The flights will commute once a week.

From 15 March, flights with the call sign CA 435 will take off at 2 AM from Chongqing and are scheduled to arrive at 8 AM in Budapest. The return flight having the call sign CA 436, will depart from the Ferenc Liszt International Airport at noon to land on the banks of the Yangtze River at 4.45 AM the next day.

A popular flight connecting China and Hungary

Since Hungary will use the Winter Time on 15 March and 22 March, Budapest arrival and departure times will be one hour earlier. The daylight saving time will start in Hungary on 26 March when we still turn our clocks forward one hour from 2 AM to 3 AM.

The airline’s booking system shows Airbus A330-200s, but according to the information on the Hungarian travel news website, the Chinese airlines will use Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners. Those aircraft have more premium economy and fewer economy class seats.

Air China’s Boeing 787-9s can carry 293 passengers in three classes. Those booking seats in the business class can choose from 30 places. Each can be turned into a bed. There will be 34 seats in the premium economy and 229 in the economy class.

Air China started its flights between the Chinese metropolis and Budapest on 18 November, 2022. Before the pandemic, Hainan Airlines flew on that route. The Chinese national airline also operates flights between Beijing and Budapest with their Airbus A330-200 planes. They commute each Thursday once a week, and the flights no longer need to stop in Tianjin thanks to the end of the Chinese zero-COVID policies. The booking system does not show results for the route currently, but Airportal says there will be no change in the summer season.
